Q. How can I get a new Service Connection?

Ans.           Apply for a new service connection by filling up the prescribed format (ELD FORM - 2). Submit such duly filled in form to your nearest electricity office. Get the forms either from your nearest electricity office or from the website of the Department free of cost.

Q. How can I transfer the Service Connection in my name to some other?

Ans.           The person to whom you wish to transfer the service connection is to submit duly filled in ELD FORM – 2 to the Assistant Engineer (Ele) / Junior Engineer (Ele) in your Island with your consent in writting. In such case, separate Security Deposit is to be remitted by him in his name. The Security Deposit in your name can be got refunded once the transfer of name has come into effect.

Ans.           Submit your request to the concerned Assistant Engineer (Ele) / Junior Engineer (Ele) in your Island for the conversion of your single phase power supply into three phase power supply or vice versa by filling up the format (ELD FORM – 2) after making necessary modifications in the wiring.

Q. How can I get a Temporary Connection?

Ans.           A temporary connection can be obtained by forwarding a request in plain paper to the concerned Assistant Engineer (Ele) / Junior Engineer (Ele) in your Island after completing the required wiring and citing the necessity.

Q. How can I get my defective meter replaced?

Ans.           If the Energy Meter seems to be not working properly, report the matter to the electricity authorities in the island immediately. Department will replace the defective meter on top priority. Please remember that, the consumer is fully responsible for keeping the Energy meter installed in his premise intact. If any defects occurs, the matter should be reported to the concerned Assistant Engineer (Ele) / Junior Engineer (Ele) in your Island immediately. If any damage is noticed by the authority concerned at the time of checking / inspection, the full cost of Energy meter along with labour charges will be recovered from the consumer. In case of Energy meter tampering, an amount of Rs. 2,000/- or the amount worked out on the basis of highest consumption during the last two years for the entire period of suspected tampering, whichever higher will be recovered from the consumer. Power supply to the premise will be restored only after the dues cleared.

Q. How can I get my Energy Meter tested / calibrated if it seems to be recording wrongly?

Ans.           Request the electricity authorities in your island to check the accuracy of the meter by remitting the required fee. If your meter found to be recorded excess consumption, then the fee remitted for the test will be refunded and the defective meter will also be replaced immediately.

Ans.           Lodge the complaint about power failure with Fuse Off Call Centres attached to the Electricity Office in your premise / area either directly or over telephone. You have to give complete details about your name, location, account number etc. for lodging the complaint.

Ans.           Apply for power connection to your newly allotted Govt. quarter in plain paper to the concerned Assistant Engineer (Ele) / Junior Engineer (Ele) in the Islands. Produce a copy of the allotment order issued by the Local Accommodation Board and a No Dues Certificate obtained from your previous station while applying for power supply connection to Govt. quarters.

The electricity authorities in your island will check the wirings and permit you to energise the additions to your existing installation.
