It was applauded with cheer when he informed that “Lakshadweep is
the first Union Territory/State in the whole country to have
‘universally electrified’ every household in the territory and in
every island, large as well as small. And “every house is lighted”.
Lakshadweep is the first Union Territory/State to have introduced
self assessment of electricity consumer charges. Because of the
efficient materials management and transportation of fuel and
effective maintenance of the power houses there has been no instance
of any load shedding in the last one year which was also very widely
applauded.
